The much anticipated new version of Domino V12 dropped in an online event on June 7th, to the excitement of thousands of viewers in the Domino community.

This latest version is a major milestone in HCL’s commitment to enrich the application development and low code ecosystem. Domino is a modern platform for the next generation of business users and IT.

Domino lets you protect and grow

For the last two years, HCL has put in a lot of work into Domino development to both maximize the value of the platform and create opportunities for growth:

  • With Domino v12, every customer has the best release to protect their existing investment, reduce cost, and create new opportunities.

  • HCL adds value to every customer’s investment with Domino Volt for apps and Sametime for meetings.

  • Domino is the most secure and cost-effective platform for business-critical workflow, email and document-centric applications.

Domino V12 is a better choice

Domino V12 positions itself above just about every other solution out there because it offers:

  • Best security in the market based on Public Key Infrastructure

  • Proven workflow capabilities without the need for 3rd party solutions

  • Lower administration overhead

  • Requires less skilled app-dev team

  • Most secure and flexible e-mail platform in the market

  • Faster time to build a solution compared to MSFT and Outsystems.

  • Doesn’t require an expense MS SQL license to run an app

Reasons why you should upgrade to V12

Time Based One Time Passwords and Two Factor Authentication

Time-based One time Password (TOTP): TOTP provides an extra layer of security when users authenticate to Domino Web server.

Realtime Backup

Domino admins can now control how and when to do backups and restoration through an easy frontend interface, instead of doing so manually.

Automatic internet certificate manager

V12 introduces a new server task, Certificate Manager (CertMgr), that works with a new database, Certificate Store (certstore.nsf) to automate generation of TLS certificates from the Let’s Encrypt certificate authority (CA).

Web browser based thin notes client (Nomad Web)

Administrators no longer have to worry about upgrading and maintaining desktop clients. Domino developers can design apps that run on a web browser and mobile devices without recording. End users can get set up four times faster than a Notes client and access apps anywhere they work.

Synchronize Domino with AD and Azure AD with password change

End users only need one password to access Domino and Active Directory and can use corporate processes to chnage their password.

Don’t migrate, modernize!

There are a number of great reasons why companies should choose to modernize their Domino apps rather than leaving the platform. Cost is the most important one:

If you take your time and properly analyze what a migration would really mean, you will get to the conclusion that it will cost more in time and money than modernizing your apps on the new Domino V12.
